UCLA freshman Ander Marticorena was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week following his strong showing in the Bruins’ 5–2 victory over Rutgers on Friday, October 24.

Marticorena played a pivotal role in the win, recording the first multi-assist performance of his collegiate career. His first assist came in the 56th minute, setting up UCLA’s go-ahead goal to make it 3–2. Moments later, he added a second assist on the Bruins’ fourth goal, helping to seal the result in front of the home crowd at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.

The midfielder continued his impressive form by adding another assist in UCLA’s 5–1 win over Omaha, bringing his season total to four assists, all in Big Ten play. Marticorena has been a consistent presence in the Bruins’ lineup, making 14 appearances and 13 starts, while going the full 90 minutes in six matches.

An Eture Sports player, Marticorena joined UCLA from Osasuna C of Spain’s Segunda RFEF. His Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor marks his first conference accolade and underscores his growing impact in his debut season with the Bruins
