Whit Schatz: From Valencia to Division I

News1 min read

Whitney “Whit” Schatz is taking his next step in college soccer. The former Eture player is transferring to Fairleigh Dickinson University to continue his NCAA Division I career with the FDU Knights.

Whit’s story with Eture started in Valencia, when he arrived for a gap year in 2022/23. He returned for the 2023/24 season and played for Eture FC in Vinaròs, where he helped the team earn promotion to the FFCV Second Division. After two years with Eture, he committed to San Diego State University.

San Diego State is the oldest higher-education institution in San Diego and has competed in NCAA Division I since 1969. Whit made 13 appearances and played 489 minutes for the Aztecs. After the season, he was named to the WAC All-Academic Team.

His time in San Diego also brought a few Eture reunions. He shared the field with former Toro Nathan Morgan, and he met up with Eture brothers Oliver Beckers and Aidan Grubbs when SDSU faced Air Force. Once a Toro, always a Toro.

Now Whit heads east to Fairleigh Dickinson. Founded in 1942, FDU is the largest private university in New Jersey, with more than 100 degree programs. Its campus in Teaneck is a short drive from New York City.

Built in Oregon. Forged in Spain. Proven in DI.

We are so proud of the path Whit is carving out. Talent gets you noticed, but character takes you further. We can’t wait to watch him keep growing, on the field and in life.
